Firstly, login to your server through root SSH – If you need an SSH client you can download Putty here.
You will need to visit http://www.webmin.com/download.html and copy the link for their latest RPM format Webmin download.
Download this link either to your computer and then upload it to your server, or by using wget, apt-get or similar depending on your linux operating system. For this example I will be using wget:
Enter the command, and then press enter:
Next we need to kick off the installation. You need to use the command:
Note: remember to change the file name depending on the file name of the version you are installing!
HELP! I’ve just received an error! – If you receive the error “/usr/bin/perl is needed by webmin-1.510-1.noarch” then you will need to install Perl – Check out STEP 2A further down this article to find out how!
You can now login to Webmin by visiting http://youriphere:10000/ – You need to log in with your servers root login information (E.G. Username: root – Password: thisisaverysecurepassword).
And success! Webmin appears to be working correctly! 🙂
Perl can be installed easily using yum if you have it installed on your server:
When it asks you if it’s OK to download the Perl packages, type “Y” and press enter:
And then go back to STEP 2.

I never heard about this webmin thing but it sounds cool. It seems linke an good alternative to Plesk that always has problems with the newest Debian distributions.
